New Squidoo Module: Yelp

If you’ve built a lens today you may have noticed that the module picker has gotten a bit of a facelift. Although this makes a portion of one of my Squidoo Training Videos obsolete, I still think it’s for the best.
One of the modules listed on the default ’starter package’ tab is called Yelp. It [...]

Sneaky Squidoo Promotional Tool – Do you have the Wisdom?

Ok, I’ve got another site that my fellow barnacles can use to promote your lenses almost effortlessly to targeted readers. (I know, that’s why they call me the Captain).
The name of the site is called Wis.dm and it is similar in design to Yahoo Answers, but here’s where the awesomeness comes in:

You ask a simple [...]

Now Live: Free Squidoo Training Videos

I’ve been perfecting a few simple training videos over the past few weeks to help people get started with Squidoo. I’m proud to announce the first installment of Squidoo Lensbuilding 101.
Lensbuilding 101 is a 7-part series that walks you through setting up a lens from start to finish. Most of the information is pretty basic, [...]

Squidoo LensRank Changes??

After this morning’s update, The Captain noticed wild swings in LR. It appears that the following has happened:
Star power has been lessened – it is easier to rank higher with fewer stars and more of other positive factors
Traffic weight has increased – my highest trafficked lenses rose significantly (regardless of stars). Over 100 visitors a [...]

The Floor is open for Squidoo Questions…

Sparked by a conversation with Meloramus (Congrats on breaking the top 100 with Golden Compass!) in the Forums, I’m beginning to think about how to best present how to use Squidoo and Commission Junction together to make money.
Along that line, I realize that I’m often looking at things from different angles than a lot of [...]

Squidoo Modules that provide ‘evergreen’ content

One of the keys to having the Big G or Yahoo! or MSN come back to your lens over and over again is having unique content on your lens that also updates regularly. Contrary to popular belief, several modules do NOT help you with spiders when they crawl your site.
Here’s a rundown of the most [...]

Sneaky SquidWho Promotion Trick

I just came across a new site that allows a fantastic backlink and promotion for your SquidWho Lenses.
The name: Tribbit
Squid Who has been one of the hardest types of lenses for me to promote because it is often difficult to find a forum about a single person.
Tribbit is a brand new web 2.0 site that [...]

Setting up Modules Correctly in Squidoo

Quick tip from the captain today.
EVERY time you fill out a module, make sure and fill out the second heading line with another keyword-rich sentence. This is important for 2 reasons:
1) the subtitles are in what are called ‘header tags’. H1 tags are the REALLY BIG titles you see at the top of the lens. [...]

Automatic Social Bookmarking for Squidoo

One of the most challenging aspects of having lots of lenses (or a few for that matter) is finding a quick and easy way to promote them.
Luckily, The Captain is here to come to the rescue. Below are 3 sites that can automate your lens promotion and build some serious backlinks along the way.
Note: In [...]

Squidoo Payday Nov 2007 : It’s booty Time!

Yesterday afternoon was Squidoo Payday and The Captain was pleased. Passing over $120 in Adsense share combined with CJ payouts for the month of over $160 puts the month’s earnings at near $300/mo. So, Lewis’ post about earning $300/mo. from Squidoo is definitely achievable. I did it in four months.
