In addition to the ebay challenge for lensmasters (Which ends today so get your lenses in!) there’s also been another challenge that has been stealthily sneaking around Squidoo.. the SuperHero Challenge!
This one is a little bit less demanding than the eBay contest. Simply build 5 lenses about regular everyday superheroes that you know who make a difference. I believe the deadline is June 30 (?). SuperGiant Squid Jeff Wend has already got his SuperHero Squidoo Project off to a great start and the Giant Squids Mentor Blog has some more information on the SuperHero Project as well.
Seth Godin defines what a true SuperHero is in his mind. Pretty interesting paradox of impatience and patience..
I’ve decided to bring back the weekly Squidoo News Updates, at least for now. I find that it helps me keep track of all the great ideas I’m finding that people are writing about.
First, a shameless plug. I Answered a question over on the Giant Squid mentor Blog by a fantastic new lensmaster (JigsawForte) on how to expand a niche of lenses to reach a wider audience. If you are a webcomic fan, make sure and check out Jigsaw’s webcomic (It’s the Deadliest one around) at Last Resort.
SquidUber has a cool post on how someone contacted him through one of his lenses to write a paid review! Pretty Cool!
The Squidoo - Ebay Lensbuilding Challenge is in Full Swing! I’ve got 9 lenses done so far with one to go. Much Squid fame and glory awaits the winner, so if you haven’t started yet get to it! There’s still plenty of time to get your lenses done (You’ve got all the rest of this week plus the weekend!).

Squidoo Virtual Intern Derrick Kwa has started off a little initiative to talk a little bit more about squidoo and business.
He’s started up a new network over on Ning called SquidBusiness. Since I occasionally moonlight as a personal finance blogger as well as being a huge business nut / Capitalist freak in general, I thought it was a great idea to spark some honest discussions about Squidoo and Business.
I’ve got some juicy money theory that I’ve been mulling over about Squidoo that I’ll probably share first over there.
If you are interested in that kind of thing, swing by and check it out. I’m not talking about ‘how do I sell my e-book’ kind of ‘business’ I’m talking about things like:
How to effectively value/measure ROI on a lens
Volume versus quality, how do you balance them
How to invest your earnings
Do you need to pay taxes on Squidoo Earnings? How Much? (btw, if you don’t know, the answer to this one is YES but there are some other tax considerations as well..)
I’m looking forward to it as I haven’t really met anyone that likes to talk about money as much as I do… but 10 or 100 other people combined can probably talk as much as I do..
