Squidoo LensRank Changes??
After this morning’s update, The Captain noticed wild swings in LR. It appears that the following has happened:
Star power has been lessened - it is easier to rank higher with fewer stars and more of other positive factors
Traffic weight has increased - my highest trafficked lenses rose significantly (regardless of stars). Over 100 visitors a week seems to lock you into the higher pay-tier with LRs of around 3k and less.
What this means-
It is now much more difficult to get into the top 10,000 on lenses without at least 10 visitors over the last 7 days with star ratings. on lenses without stars, you will need 25-30 visitors a week, which is actually less than before.
Also, while stars are still positive, their effect seems to have been nerfed pretty heavily. Over the next few weeks I’ll keep my eyes out and see if other factors have been increased or decreased..
Arggg…. ’tis a change in the wind swabbies..

I think the Squidudes have lessened the star rating factor in lensrank because of the “You rate me, I’ll rate you” syndrome that has gone on in the past. This change has probably been a long time coming due to this. I think a lens should get more credit for traffic that is generated than for just having a star rating.

Yes I have noticed this too. My lenses are not popular enough though to even worry about this, So I don,t. Its a glitch I can live with. Not being able to install any of my personal media players though is a bummer:-(

[...] The last lensrank ranking change brought us a much heavier weight placed on traffic and less placed on having a single star rating. This shifted focus towards bringing traffic to your Squidoo lens, and it worked. [...]
