Comments on: Squidoo Modules that provide ‘evergreen’ content

Is this still a good way to go. Never thought about indexing the lenses too much (stupid i know). Have been relying on tags, but I think they are only really effective in the short term and lose some of their juice over time. I suppose it’s because my lenses are making the most of some of the above suggestions.

One of the easiest ways to find out if a particular module is evergreen or not is to use the Lynx browser. You can download it for Windows and all it shows is the text. It doesn’t do Javascript. In other words, what it sees is what the search engines will see.

I know that these modules are Evergreen:
Amazon
Flickr
Google Blog/News Search
Youtube

I know there are more, but I find plenty of variety just using those 4 modules.

Useful post and comments. I’ve been wondering about these things myself and some evergreen modules I’d guessed right and others wrong so opinions from the experts helped enlighten the situation quite a bit more! Thank you all…

This post need updating. The list of Evergreen modules is now this:

- Amazon*
- CafePress*
- Dual
- Guestbook
- Google Blog Search
- Plexo**
- Twitter
- Yelp
- YouTube*

* Amazon, CafePress and YouTube modules only change if you let Squidoo pick what items they show.

** I would argue that the Plexo module doesn’t actually get much interaction, and often it’s just the order that changes.

Also note that the Google Blog Search has all links tagged as nofollow.

I’m not convinced that the YouTube module counts, as the only content to change is the ‘number’ of comments. The comments themselves aren’t displayed.

Here are some modules to add to the list:
- Plexo = Evergreen
- GuestBook = Evergreen
- Dual Module = Not Evergreen
