Squidoo Quest Week One Update
Every week I’ll provide a brief update to my Squidoo Quest so we can track our progress together.
I’m in the process of creating some charts to summarize all of the statistics on an ongoing basis. Once this is live I’ll let everyone know so they can catch up on any weeks they missed.
Week 1:
Lenses created: 3
Lenses Receiving Search Traffic: 2
Total Traffic: 181
Squidoo Earnings : $0.00
Aff. Earnings : $0.00
Discussion:
My Laptop got destroyed halfway through last week, which definitely put a damper on new lens creation. However, this weekend I bought a new computer that will allow us to move forward! Significant search traffic is already going to the first two lenses I created, with approximately a 40% clickthrough from search traffic to Amazon or Affiliate links. As traffic increases over time, this should lead to some good sales. In the past it’s usually taken between 30 and 60 days for lenses I make to start seeing significant sales, so I’m not too worried about not having any sales from the squidoo lenses in the first week.
The response from the Squidoo community to the quest has been great so far and I have tons of topics to write about just from the comments I have received. Stay tuned to have more of your questions explained in depth!

How exciting you got a new ‘puter. It’s also pretty exciting your getting significant search traffic. I’d like to know what you’re doing to drive search traffic. Do you have a specific linking strategy, if so what? thanks! This is really fun to watch.
My readers and I have just set some goals for the next 6 months. Quite a few of them are planning to use Squidoo and I’ve sent them your way.

Captain — what made you decide on this product to begin with? Thanks.

Congrats on the clickthroughs. That part is what I’m starting to get into. I love how it increases Lensrank.

This will be interesting Joe. With the exception of an occasional update, for the most part we’ve put Squidoo on auto-pilot as we have all sorts of other stuff in the fire. Perhaps your success will spur us to get re-connected with Squidoo again. We’ll be watching you!

I appreciate the newsletters trying to follow/do all the tips are very time consuming so I look forward to making some money for the holidays. I work for my children and this is fun anyway.

This is fun! I’m interested to know how you are doing your keyword research and promoting? What do you recommend after the lens is built?

Hey Capt., I’ve got a question on one of the items from your lenses. It can go down into your “how to monetize your lens” post. Would you mind going into the popshops feed you’ve got pulled into your lens? How you did it? Tips?

Going to follow your progress and try my best to take the same steps you do. (That means I have to publish 3 of the lenses I started and are calling my name…)
