Squidoo Tip of the Day: Turn down the Heat
I’ve started a few new groups lately and have been noticing an increasing number of new lenses that are nothing more than a long list of advertisements and affiliate offers with no commentary, review, or original content.
It is irrellevant whether I think this is a good tactic or not, it just simply doesn’t work with most people.
Turn down the sales heat a little bit. When I read an introduction that has no less than 4 affiliate links in it and it doesn’t really hook me in at all it does not entice me to read further.
Next, the next module is 5-8 screen lengths long. Why???? The whole point of modules is to break up content.
ARRRRRRR….
Use these three steps to dial down the heat, and slow cook your visitors instead of burning them.
- No more than one link in the introduction.
- No more than one page length modules.
- Always have something besides text and text links visible in the screen.
