The Captain’s Roving Band of Lens Promotion

There are tons of social bookmarking and networking sites out there. However, if you don’t have any friends on these sites, you aren’t very likely to be heard.
So, in the interest of spreading the word about all the great lenses everyone is making, we have created the Captain’s Roving Band.
We have created core groups on four social networking sites: Twitter, Wis.Dm, Propeller, and Stumble Upon. These groups will be used to promote our lenses and other awesome things we find around the net that’s promotion worthy.
What you have to do: Get an account at each network and become friends with our Founding Members (see below). Boom! You instantly have a group of friends to get started with on each network.
What makes this work: whenever you make a lens, now you just submit it to a few places instead of spreading it around the internet in a bunch of places without any force behind it. when you submit your lens to the sites in the Roving Band, check your profile and see what the rest of the band has submitted lately as well. More focused promotion = more traffic = more general piratey awesomeness.
The Caveat: The Roving Band helps those that help it… Arrrrgghh. If ye don’t want to help, ye walk the plank..
The Band’s Ports of Call:
Ask a question where the answer can be found on your lens. Similar to Yahoo Answers but with better networking and do follow links. See the Sneaky Wis.Dm Trick for full details.
Note: Make sure that you ‘thumbs up’ your favorite questions, that’s how we get questions pushed to the front page!

Leave very short messages or ‘twits’. Just be careful you aren’t posting bunches and bunches of messages a day so you become your own ‘twit’ ;).

OK, I’m not much of a pirate, but I will join in anyway. 
Took me a minute to wrap my mind around social networking but I think I have the hang of it now. I have added everyone on all 4 lists.
I used the name “webnh” for wis.dm, propeller and twitter and for stumbleupon I used “sitbyme”
So please add me to your roving band..

By posting a comment with your usernames, you are essentially on the list. Just double check to make sure you are friends with my screennames. The roving band is pretty much anyone else who is one of my friends on those 4 services, so just add them as friends and then you should be all set.
Does that make any sense?

I became friends with everyone on the list and most of them returned the gesture. However new people are not going to scan the comment section to find me nor am I going to scan the comment section to find them.
I suspect all new people will add people already on the list to their friends but not the people in the comment section.
If everyone leaving a comment are put on the list then they get the benefit from being added by all new people.
Am I making sense?

this is a great idea to get everyone together on these social sites. i’ve created a lens that hopefully will make it easier and more efficient.
Add Your Profile
add your profile url to the plexo for the appropriate social site and have a link directly to you. no more searching for each name.
I got everyone on the main list and now I’m working on the comment section. Many of you I had already through other way and it surely does make the world seem very small.
This is such a great idea Captain and I’m glad to be aboard (but please don’t make me walk the plank)
